According to sources from the Washington Post, President Donald Trump approved a cyberattack that disabled Iranian missile control computers on late June 20. The exact time of the operation isn’t yet known, but it was described as “crippling.”
U.S. officials have declined to speak on the operation, with Cyber Command saying that it doesn’t want to risk its operations by disclosing information of its online efforts. The report comes just a few days after news that the U.S. planted offensive malware in Russian power grids.
U.S. national security adviser John Bolton said the U.S. was “broadening the areas” in its use of cyberwarfare.
