On Monday, President Donald Trump said that his administration had shared “very positive correspondence” with North Korea.
“There was a little correspondence recently,” he said. “Very positive correspondence with North Korea.” He did not say whether he shared words with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“When they’re ready, we’ll be ready,” the president said.
Last week, North Korea warned that if the U.S. broke its pledge to cancel military exercises in South Korea, they would put nuclear talks at risk.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said military exercises in South Korea would not break and agreement between the Trump and Kim. A South Korean official said a joint military exercise with the U.S. would continue as planned in August.
