On Friday, President Donald Trump gave a mysterious statement regarding Vice President Mike Pence’s abruptly canceled trip to New Hampshire on Tuesday.
“There was a very interesting problem that they had in New Hampshire,” the president said to reporters, without revealing the actual problem.
“I can’t tell you about it, but it had nothing to do with the White House,” said Trump. “There was a problem up there.” He said that they would know the reason “in about a week or two.”
The vice president was set to visit a drug addiction treatment center in Salem, New Hampshire on Tuesday and deliver a speech on the opioid crisis. Instead of arriving at the destination, a representative from the vice president’s office said that there had been “an emergency callback.”
Alyssa Farah, a spokesperson for Pence, said that “something came up” that required the vice president to remain in Washington, D.C.
Marc Short, a top aide for the vice president, said that issue was not related to national security, health, or a personal or family matters.
